4D (3D Video) Capture Systems
Dimensional Imaging has recently introduced ground-breaking 4D (3D video) surface image capture systems that utilizes the Company’s world-leading DI3D™ passive stereophotogrammetry technology.
To capture a full color 3D video sequence of a dynamically changing surface, the 4D capture systems use stereo pairs of synchronised grayscale digital video cameras to capture stereo video sequences of the scene and, optionally, a third synchronised color camera to capture the surface texture.
Each frame of the sequence is treated as a separate stereo pair of images and is processed to produce a separate range map.
All of the resulting range maps are then combined to produce a temporally varying sequence of high-resolution 3D images, which can be exported as a sequence of 3D polygon meshes.

DI4D™ High Resolution Sequences
Dimensional Imaging's 4D capture systems offer a range of different optional resolutions and frame rates to suit a wide range of different applications from facial animation to high-speed surface deformation analysis:
30 FPS - 2MP: Running at up to 30 frames per second, capturing up to 2MP 3D images in full colour.
60 FPS - 4MP: Running at up to 60 frames per second, capturing up to 4MP 3D images.
500 FPS - 1.3MP: Running at up to 500 frames per second, capturing up to 2MP 3D images.

DI4D™ Efficient Processing
High frame rates and high resolution images require efficient processing algorithms to produce 4D sequences within short periods of time.
Our High-End CUDA enhanced 4D capture systems harness the latest GPU technology from NVIDIA. Combined with specially developed CUDA algorithms, our CUDA enabled capture systems are able to dramatically reduce processing times.
Standard 4D capture systems optionally allow users to distribute the processing so that sequences can be processed in parallel over a network of computers.
